Equality is about social justice; a fundamental prerequisite for development and peace; and so women and men can work together for themselves, their children and for society to meet the challenges of the 21st century. -from the United Nations Platform for Action Mission Statement

The Working Together for Equality B+15 Review survey at the JERA International website asks women to talk about anything that is important to them; poverty, violence, the environment, media, young women, education, health, being involved in decision-making, refugees, war, human rights, housing, impact of the global financial crisis, whether government departments are providing services that are needed, the cost of living – anything that is an issue for you.

This information will be reported to the Australian government and will be included in the NGO discussions in the Asia Pacific Regional Conference and at the United Nations in March 2010 where governments around the world will debate how to close the gap for women across 12 critical areas of concern, raised in the Beijing Platform for Action [BPfA].

JERA International is coordinating the National review on the Beijing Platform for Action and working with many women’s organisations and networks across Australia to raise awareness of this review, run Caravans and to bring the voice of women in Australia into this review. A full list of participating organisations can be found on the JERA website: www.jerainternational.org
