The Medical Women's Society of NSW recently launched an initiative that provides female junior doctors and medical students with a senior female doctor mentor. On October 26 2010, we hosted a mentoring training and introduction evening. Click here to veiw the powerpoint presentation from the evening. If anyone has missed out and would like to be involved in 2011 as a mentor or mentee, please fill out a mentoring program participant form.

The mentoring training and introduction evening on 26th October was facilitated by medical doctor and mentor Alice Killen. Dr Killen presented frameworks for mentoring and engaged participants in a series of round table discussions.  Mentors and mentees were encouraged to discuss their expectations of the program, and consider the roles and responsibilities of both mentors and mentees.  At the end of the night we matched up mentors and mentees, who were left to introduce themselves and organize another meeting!
A big thanks to Emily Gregory-Roberts who initiated and co-ordinated the mentoring program, and Alice Killen who facilitated the orientation night, providing us with her wisdom and experience of mentoring programs.
We are planning further mentoring events for 2011. If you would like to be involved as a mentor or mentee (or both), please complete a mentoring program participant form available here.
